Japanese Azuma Bag series:
We used a Nishijin woven obi with a unique leaf pattern woven onto black silk.
The purple in the leaves is accentuated softly.
Azuma Bukuro in Japanese refers to a wrapping cloth sewed and shaped into a bag, a bag that was first created when western culture penetrated the Japanese wrapping culture, turning packages into bags. We have used repurposed and recycled Kimono belts called Obi to make our collection. Each bag is a one off and a unique pattern made from the original 100% pure silk Obi belt and high quality black leather reproduction fabric.
